So many!

Ok, this time there are a bunch of random scenes...like a commercial. I realize that the last post was not like a commercial or rather a tv preview of a movie or tv episode, because...they are more like bits and pieces all over the place from episode or movie.

Anyways...I must warn you though that these are pieces from the first half of the book, because the second half is not done.

           “Do you have a name, sons?” Captain Fletcher looked down at Jane, Alex, and Marty with kindness in his eyes. He seemed to feel sorry for them, believing them to be orphaned boys that stowed away on his ship.
            “Yes. Yes I do.” Jane replied, trying to think of a name and avoiding his eyes.
            It went quiet for a few seconds. Marty and Alex eyed Jane cautiously waiting anxiously. The captain raised an eye brow again. “Well? What it is?”
            “Oh! Ha, ha, yes, yes of course.  The name’s Ja-Je-J-Jeffery.” She smiled confidently.
            “Jeffery?” He eyed her suspiciously. “All right, Jeffery…you?” He turned to Marty.
            “Maart…Mart.” Marty smiled.
            “Mart. And you.”
            “Uh…Thaddeus?” questioningly, Alex grinned timidly.
            “Do you not know?”
            “Oh, well, of course I know. It’s Thaddeus.” She smiled more confidently trying to convince him, and herself that she could pull it off.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
           Jane dodged an aggressive man coming to throw her some fists. She picked up a bottle of rum on a table behind her, as another man ran toward her. She threw it at his head knocking him out. She picked up another one, just as the handsome man knocked her next target unconscious with his own fist, after having knocked the scar-faced man unconscious and fighting off some others.
           “May I?” He asked eyeing the bottle of rum, as he stood with an off balance sway. She handed him the full bottle. He took it, uncorked it, and drank from it. “Thank you!”
            A stout man charged them and the handsome man threw the bottle at his head knocking him out as well.
            “Such a waste,” said her rescuer, referring to the spilt rum.
            Jane narrowed her eyes at him then grinned forcedly. “Of course.” She hurried away, thinking he was strange, but perhaps in a good way. She found Marty and Alex, and they made their escape from the chaotic tavern.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

             Walking through without being noticed was so easy. When she got to the place where Alex and Marty had said she would find the  kitchen of sorts, it appeared that the cook had already gone off to bed, so she rummaged around for leftovers as quietly as possible, as the ship rocked this way and that. She inwardly groaned, trying to keep her balance in the rocking boat. There must be a storm, otherwise she would not be so wobbly.
            What arr you doing?” a gruff voice said moving closer.
            Jane froze. “I…”
            “Come on let’s go boy.”
            The pirate apparently had no patience, for he grabbed her with strong, harsh hands.
            “What? No! You misunderstand me!”
            “Stealin’ food is not a misunderstandin’, much less boardin’ wit’out permission,” said he grumpily, dragging her through the dark ship toward the upper deck.
            “But…I’m just-”
            “Just a what? A thief and a stowaway? Who are you?”
            “Aren’t you a thief too?” She looked up at him, avoiding the last question. He was tall and skinny, not what she expected from such a hard grasp.
            “Aye…but ye be stealing some ‘o me portion o’ da’ food.”
            “Oh, see? You do understand my hunger.”
            “No, I don’t.” He dragged her along with his long strides.
            “Please!”
            “No!”
            “I-” She was suddenly silenced by pouring buckets of rain and tough blowing winds that drowned out her argument. He turned her to the right. Heavy rain drops caused her to squint, as he dragged her up a flight of stairs that led to where the captain stood on the poop deck--which acted as a roof over the cabin.
            She tripped on a step. He caught her, pulling her up, and mumbling curses. She was not sure which curses he used, but she was certain they were directed toward her. How dare he? She thought.
            “Captain, what should we do wit’ tis thief?” The skinny pirate gave her a disgusted look.
            The stalwart frame of Crazy Lou turned from steadily looking over his ship and the rain storm, to meet Jane’s eyes. He grinned evilly. “Feed ‘im to the sharks.”
            Jane’s eyes got big, as Crazy Lou turned around and started walking away. And then the pirate began moving her along.
            “What? No! Wait!” Jane struggled with the pirate. “Are you Lewis Remmington?”
            Stopping in his tracks, Crazy Lou turned around, slowly.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
            “No warning shot?” they heard Lou grumble. “Who does he think he is?” Lou then turned from the middle of the ship to face his enemy’s massive galleon of a ship, as they neared them.
“Well, Jane, you might get your revenge after all,” said Crazy Lou.
            Jane stared at him with shock, her eyes moving frantically around, as every pirate on his ship stared her.
            “Did I just…?” Lou paused looking around at the shocked crew and his embarrassed nieces. He sighed exasperatedly. “Gentlemen, you may as well all know that James, Max, and Thad are actually my nieces, so don’t get any funny ideas. Now back to work ye labbernecks! We have a battle to win!”
            “Great!” said Marty. “So much for secret identity.”
~~~~~~~~~~

            Jane looked over just in time to see the dark-blond haired pirate she’d knocked down before charging her. He looked around their age.
Before she could block him off, he grabbed her neck with his left hand, shoving her against the railing. “You killed my brother!” He cursed at her and she tried kicking him, struggling to breath between his tight hold around her neck. He then lifted and squeezed so tightly, the air was instantly and more painfully cut off from her lungs. She felt her the tips of her toes barely touch the deck. So instantly she dropped her sword and clawed at the vise grip around her throat, but it was like trying to pry apart jail bars.
           He pulled out his pistol and pointed it at her head. Jane thought for sure she was going to die. God! Was the only thing she could think, for she felt herself taken over with fright and her vision clouded with blackness.
            “See ye in Davy Jones’ locker!” Tom had a grimaced look set on his face. His cornflower blue eyes glared at her, which could be beautiful if they weren’t so, angry and bitter looking.
            Bigger black spots started appearing.
            “Leave ‘er be!” said Lou, as Marty and Alex stared in horror and fear for Jane. They felt helpless that they couldn’t do anything.
            Tom narrowed his eyes at Lou then at the person between his grip. He finally noticed the rare smoothness that was found only on women. She was a beauty, but he did not care. He said, “No. She killed my brother.”
          “So?” a different authoritative voice said. “Drop the girl, Tom. The lass is not what we’re after. Today at least.”
           Tom looked up to see his Captain Skullblade. Reluctantly though, he instantly let her drop and brought his pistol to his side. The boats, he noticed, were rocking more roughly than before the fight. The winds had picked up.
            Air and life seemed to rush back into Jane, she had come so close to being totally gone, as she thudded roughly on the deck. She knelt on her hands and knees. Little Bosley, Alex and Marty then rushed to her side. “Are ye all right, lass?” asked he, kneeling awkwardly next to her. Jane clutched his arm for support and dragged at gulps of air, as she attempted to focus a glare on the dark-blond haired pirate. Her hand went to her neck in a protective gesture.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
           “Marty, I am sending you and your cousins to London to stay there until you’ve learned your lesson,” said he without looking at her.
            “What? No! Father, please!” Marty stood up abruptly.
            “How could you have done this?” He met her eyes finally. “You knew full well that Addison’s position with the admiral is at an extremely delicate state! Any scandal, any mark upon his name could be fatal!”
            Marty’s jaw tightened with rebellion, but she hastily exited and was met by her mother.
            “You will be sent to join the court of our queen and stay there until your father has forgiven you,” said she.
            Marty narrowed her eyes with a look of frustration and anger.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

            Sitting next to some of his men, including his friend Darby, Jacob was not mentally present with the conversation his fellows were having, rather he found himself daydreaming about Alex.
            “Shh! Have ye heard the rumour mate?” asked a man from behind him.
          “Which one? There’s never just one rumour, you bloke!” responded another man.
            “The one about the dangerous treasure worth a man’s entire life earnings,” said the first man.
            “What’s that? I ain’t heard of ‘dat one yet,” said the second man.
            Jacob’s ears perked up. He could help his sister. He could save his sister from needing to rely on a creepy man to live.
            “Aye, dat’s right,” said the first man.
            “I don’t buh-lieve it!” exclaimed the second man. “Have you been sleepin’ with a gypsy?”
            “No, no, no! It’s true and Skullblade aims to find it.”
            “Skullblade?”
            “Aye, that’s right. You better listen to me now.” The first man lowered his voice even more, Jacob carefully had to lean back to catch all of the words, as he whispered, “He says the map is on a teardrop shaped ruby necklace.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
            After dancing with Lieutenant Derrick and then talking with him and Uncle Remmington, Alex made her way through the crowd to Marty and Jane.
            Mr. Remmington noted Dunlevy’s gaze on the three. “You find her agreeable?” he asked.
            “I do,” Derrick said without pulling his eyes away. “She is the most handsome creature my eyes have ever beheld.”
            “Ah, yes.” Mr. Remmington narrowed his eyes, trying to decide to which of his nieces he was referring to. “Alexandra would make a fine wife, I’m sure.”
            “Indeed she would.” Derrick still seemed in a trance with the girl across the room. He abruptly turned his gaze to Mr. Remmington. “But I was thinking of your other niece, sir.”
           Mr. Remmington’s eyes lit up with surprise.
           Derrick continued, “Yes, Miss Alexandra is handsome and would make a fine wife, but I feel more strongly for her sister.”
           “So you choose Jane?”
           “Yes. I daresay, I fancy myself in love with her.”
            Mr. Remmington smiled. “Splendid! I am glad we have come to an accord. Now we just need Jane’s consent and that of her father, which I am sure will not be too hard to get.”
            “Of course,” said Derrick.
           “And I must regretfully remind you that her father and I have agreed that she can choose anyone who proposes to her by the end of August.”
           “Yes, I remember.” Derrick had an unemotional look, as his eyes moved to stare at Jane, who was too engrossed in Marty and Alex to even notice.
            Mr. Remmington continued, “And if you still find her agreeable, and she has not accepted anyone else’s hand, then she is all your’s.”
            Derrick met Remmington’s eyes and with a curt nod, he said, “Thank you.”
Captain Skullblade (the best picture I could find of the captain in my head...)
Lord David Remmington (I thought he fit the description I had for him, though he's not exactly like I imagined but close enough!)
Runaway!
A sneak peak was itching to come out.
You know this is actually quite exciting, because I'm imagining these sneak peak pieces like the commercial ads for movies or a television series.
So here we are...
Some quick Background or perhaps it's setting the scene:
Late into the night...Miss Marty sitting on a bed, wearing an elegant dress, Miss Alexandra also wearing a lovely dress and Miss Jane wearing a long night gown. Alex and Jane are sitting at their own vanities...
            “Indeed.” Marty grew more serious, as she fiddled with the necklace in between her fingers.
            Jane got up, went to her bed and pulled out a pile of clothes from underneath. As Marty looked at her ruby and Alex looked at her reflection, Jane walked behind the divider with the boys’ clothes. Alex saw the clothes out of the corner of her eye, as Jane disappeared behind the divider, but did not know their kind.
            “What are doing?” Alex asked, causing Marty to look at them with a confused look.
            “I…I shouldn’t tell you.” Jane started changing out of her nightgown.
            “Why not?” Alex put down her drying towel.
            “Because, I’m going…” Jane hesitated in whether or not to let them in on her full plan.
            “Where are you going?” Alex pressed.
            “Away.”
            “What do you mean…?”
            Jane sighed, pausing in her process of fastening on the belt around her waist. She debated with herself and decided to tell them… “I’m going to find Uncle Lou,” said she coming out from behind the divider fully dressed like a boy. “How do I look?”
            “What?” Alex gaped with her mouth open.
            Marty laughed. “Like a boy.”
            “Captain Crazy Lou!” Alex went to stand before Jane. “Are you daft? He’s a pirate? Do you know how dangerous that is? He is?”
            “Alex is right, Jane,” said Marty calmly, but with a hint of sorrow – she had learned of their uncle’s truth as soon as her cousins had come to her home.
            “Yes, but I also seem to remember father saying that we need to keep the family together.” Jane started gathering her hand sized pouch of money and a hooded coat. “And since father and Uncle David are failing to do that, and I want to meet Uncle Lewis, I’m going to do something about it.”
            “Oh! Right! You can just go right out there and tell Uncle Lewis you’re his niece…”
            “Nephew,” Jane corrected.
            “Whatever! And expect him to accept you just like that?”
             “Yep, pretty much.” Jane smiled slightly amused.
            “This is beyond absurd, you know that don’t you?” Alex asked bewildered, but as more of a statement.
            “Above and beyond, don’t you want to meet Uncle Lewis?” asked Jane.
            “You mean Crazy Lou?” said Alex distastefully.
            “Yes!” Marty exclaimed. She had let go of the necklace and now leaned forward on her hands.
            “But you can’t just leave!” said Alex.
            “Oh, Alex…” Jane went and pulled some rope out from underneath her bed.
            “Don’t you, ‘Oh, Alex,’ me.  This is much too precarious for you. I will not allow it.” Alex followed Jane over to the window.
            “You can’t stop me,” said Jane.
            “You are not seriously going to climb down from here, are you?” Marty came to stand next to Jane at the window, as she looked down below remembering that it was two story’s high above the ground.
            “Yes,” said Jane curtly, not wanting them to know that she was beginning to doubt her plans. For fear of death or unwanted male attention taunted her, but she pushed her fears aside.
             “No!” said Alex moving to block the window. “I won’t let you throw your life away like this, Jane. You have a duty as a Remmington. As a daughter. As…as a sister,” she finished more gently, searching her sister’s eyes intently.
            “Yes, and so does our family toward Uncle Lewis. As a brother and as nephews and nieces. Now, please, move aside,” Jane pleaded, while holding the rope in her hands.
            Alex sighed exasperatedly and moved aside unwillingly.
            “Thank you.” Jane began tying the rope in multiple knots to the railing.
            “Jane-” Alex tried.
            “Al, please try to understand. I’ve never had any real adventure. I’ve never been outside this country.” She continued tying knots and pulling on them as tightly as possible
            “But Jane, you’re a lady,” said Alex.
            “Yes, but don’t you want to be more than just a lady?” asked Jane.
             Alex froze, realizing that she did want to be more than just a lady, but what she wanted to be was forbidden for women to pursue.
            Marty stood there listening to her two cousins argue trying to decide who to agree with, because she agreed with both views. She agreed with Jane in wanting some adventure and to meet the uncle they all thought had died long ago. And with Alex, she agreed that it was risky and dangerous, especially on their family’s reputation.
            “I want to be a lady-sailor.” Jane smiled to herself after tying the last knot. Yes, she was following her heart.
           “Oh! Me too!” said Marty, as Jane started to climb through the window but stopped.
            “Really?” asked Jane coming back in and turning around to meet Marty’s eyes.
            Marty smiled feeling slightly embarrassed. “Yes, actually and I want to be a doctor too.”
            “Really? I also want to ride in the horse races.”
            “Really? That is definitely unheard of, but definitely exciting,” said Marty as Jane once again climbed through the window.
            “Jane, I don’t…” Alex began to try once more to reason with Jane.
            “Please don’t tell anyone what I’m doing. Promise?” Jane looked at both of them eagerly.
            Marty grinned rebelliously, while Alex hardened her face. “Promise!” They said not quite in unison.  They watched her with debate in their minds.
            “Be careful!” Alex suddenly whispered loudly, once Jane was halfway down.
            As they watched her reach the ground below, Marty whispered, “This is ridiculous, we can’t let her go by herself!”
            “She shouldn’t be going at all.”
            “You know she’s right about needing to experience adventure outside of high society and keeping the family together.”
            “What? No! We are not going! It‘s too dangerous”
            “Oh come on, Alex, please!”
            Alexandra looked down the street to see Jane drop her pouch, as she was hurrying off toward the docks. “Oh!” she moaned, watching Jane turn around to pick it up and continue on her way. “Come on let’s go!”
So...I like pictures, I'm a visual person, it's one of the ways I learn best and it helps me visualize and actually feel like I'm there and seeing my characters and their scenes in such clothes or location.
For example, what would a girl or rather a lady would look like dressed as a boy in the early 18th century? And not want anyone to know that you really are a lady?
This was the best one that I could find that was NOT so modern, like they were high heeled boots, skirts, short skirts, too revealing, I mean seriously that is NOT how a lady would dress, if she wanted to conceal herself and protect herself from unwanted attention and be a pirate. Honestly, it is frustrating, but I guess the girls and ladies back then trying to blend in with the guys didn't have other girls to look to, to see how they pulled off the pirate/male look. They looked at the male for their clothing choice.
And we remember, guys had long hair back then too, but the girls daring enough to join the motley crew had to more careful about letting their hair down...right?
Lieutenant Derrick Dunlevy (a supporting character)
Lieutenant Derrick Dunlevy is obligated to marry his father's friend and business partner's niece.
He is a nobleman, obsessed with Jane Remmington.
Derrick has a rangy build with a handsome long face and dark gray eyes. He has wavy, brunette hair. At age twenty-seven, he carries himself with an air of pride and self-importance.
His personality - sarcastic, noble, slightly snobbish, very rigid at first, humourless,. He is well-mannered, not social (introvert) and makes a poor impression on strangers.
He is kind and timid toward the lady who has his eyes.
Favorite Phrases:
"Needless to say," said Lieutenant Dunlevy in a bored tone.
A British 1st Lieutenant outfit of the 18th century.
Bit o' conversation:
"Could you love me?" Derrick held Jane's hand.
"No, sir, I could never love you, I'm sorry. My heart belongs to someone else," said Jane. She started to walk away when he grabbed her wrist. She looked back at him with alertness.
"Jane, please." He pulled her to him, searching her eyes. "Give me a second chance."
Lord Joshua Williamson (a supporting character)
Lord Joshua Williamson is the son of a duke. He fancies himself in love with Miss Marty Remmington, and she in return.
His father is 5th Duke Cromwell Williamson of Somerset, Baron of Trowbridge and Marquis of Worcester.
Josh at age one and twenty has long, straight blond hair tied back at the nape of his neck. He is tall and lean (about 6'1) with sharp features - high cheek bones, small pointy nose, bright green eyes.
People found him handsome, unable to resist women, and attractive to many women.
Josh is a charming, kind, gentlemen. He is an extrovert, can be outspoken, therefore he is generally pretty straightforward with his thoughts and is slightly snobbish. He is not afraid to be passionate, especially toward the lady he fancies himself in love with.
He is the second oldest of four and heir to dukedom after his father.
A bit o' conversation:
(In Josh's chambers...)
Nervously Marty said, raising a brow, "And yet you invite me here?"
"Because, I like you and trust you," said Josh.
She laughed uneasily, "You hardly know me."
This is his sister, Miss Amelia Williamson: She is age seventeen.
This is their brother, Lord Timothy Williamson: He is age nineteen.
Quote Day - this one's from my Remmington Pirates Saga!
“Why compare yourself with others? No one in the entire world can do a better job of being you than you,” said Grandmamma Remmington.
Yes, Julie Andrews is one of my inspirations for Grandma Remmington, as well as a model of what she best looks like in my head - but more of the type of personality she is in my head.
Sneak Peak time...Book 1's Prologue Part 1
The Remmington Pirate Saga
Prologue
Late 17th century, near Portsmouth, England
The moon glared down onto the three-story Remmington Hall as a tall, lean frame sneaked across the hallway in black, where the moonbeams revealed him slipping into an expensively furnished bedroom. The young man looked around the room, scanning for something. The big bed was heavy with bedding, unlit candles were on every wooden surface in the room, and a big Persian rug accented the room elegantly.
He then rested his eyes on the vanity, and seemed to have found where he wanted to look. He proceeded to look through the drawers.
After what seemed to be endless seconds that had passed from searching, he lifted two necklaces. With a moonbeam directly hitting his back, one pendant was shaped like a square and the other like a teardrop. Because of the shadows, it was hard to identify the colour of either of them.  He seemed to be studying them carefully.
Suddenly there was a sound of feet shuffling quietly.
He paused and looked at the door in time to see a young servant girl walk through the doorway. She paused with fright at the sight of him.
He quickly put the teardrop-shaped pendant necklace around his neck and set the other down, as the three and ten year old girl started to run back out the door. He chased her into the blackened hallway. He rapidly caught her from behind and covered her mouth before she called the guards or screamed. He pulled out a pistol and aimed it at her head.
“Not a single word of me to anyone, or I will find you and kill you,” he threatened. “Is that understood?”
The terrified girl nodded her head, unable to see his face.
“Good.” He pulled the pistol down. “Now, you are to tell your masters that you only heard the thief scramble away. Ok?”
She nodded.
“And just so you know, I’ve got my back covered, if you decide to brave up and call the guards after I’m back on the ground. They will shoot you. Understood?”
She nodded quickly with a look of fear in her eyes. His hand fell from her mouth, and he loosened his grip on her, but still held her loosely.
“Ok, I’m going to release you and I want you to count to…hmm…what do you think? One-hundred? No, that may be too long. How ‘bout thirty? But count real slow…”
He released her and disappeared into the darkness.
She stood still, biting her lip, too scared to see where he went, but did as he had instructed and began slowly counting in her head.
What color do you think the gem is?
Black Onyx teardrop shaped gem
Ruby teardrop shaped gem
Sapphire teardrop shaped gem
And who is the guy that is stealing this gem? And why? Of what importance is it to the story?
What is happening with my pirates series?
Hmmm...I want to blog about my book today.... How about a little preview of the "Remmington Pirates Saga" book 1, though the book is not done...yet. It is, however at least 1/4 of the way done - almost half way done.
Plus, I've got a gazillion pieces scattered all over for the series. I can't just focus on one book, because something(s) ties way too much into all five of the books. Yes, I'm thinking five books in the series should be good, but you never know, it could turn out to be six books total.
Hey, I started out with thinking it's going to be a trilogy, but then as ideas and more ideas came, the story got more and more complicated. And the next thing I know we'd be reading one of those fat dictionaries. And me, I personally don't like reading fat books. My hands aren't that big!
Anyways, now I have to sort through all my ideas and make sure they make sense and figure where they work in the story and if they will even work in the story and then write scenes and tie scenes together and make novels!
Now, for a sneak peak, tomorrow I will post book one's prologue (at about 6am UK, cause you can have the post be scheduled to come out without  even having to do it manually)!
TOMORROW of the "Remmington Pirates Saga" book 1!
P.S. Sorry to get your hopes up for reading part of my book today. I hope you will forgive me it will be tomorrow. I promise! ;)
