Talk Like a Pirate Day is September 19th!

Who knew that such a day even existed!?

Makes me smile! "Talk Like A Pirate Day" Haha!

So here are some pirate phrases and words you could try out OR not try out...

GREETINGS
            Ahoy -- "Hello!"
            Hey bucko.
            Ahoy, mate!
            Avast!
            Me hearties -- Typical way for a pirate leader to address his crew.
GOODBYES
            Farewell!
            Until next time.
            May fair winds find ye.
            Godspeed! -- Goodbye, good luck
            Fair winds! -- Goodbye, good luck!.
FRIENDLY
            How r ye mate?
            Bucko -- Familiar term. "Me bucko" = "my friend."
            Matey -- A piratical way to address someone in a cheerful, if not necessarily friendly, fashion.
HAPPY
            It’s like the sky is raining gold doubloons!
            May stiff wind be at our backs, the sun on our faces and our cannons fire true!
            They ‘ave taken the bait
COMPLIMENTS
            Fine shooting mate!
            A well placed blow!
            Nice shot!
            Well met!
            We showed them!
            Yer not so bad yerself!
            A fine blunder haul!
            An’ a handsome petticoat she be.
SAD
            I be sailing some rough waters today.

            Belay -- Stop that. --- "Belay that talk!" would mean "Shut up!"
            Gangway! -- "Get out of my way!"
INSULTS
            Bilge rat!

            Dog -- A mild insult, perhaps even a friendly one. - contemptible person: somebody regarded as unpleasant or contemptible (insult) 5. offensive term: an offensive term that deliberately insults somebody's looks (slang insult) 6. person: somebody of a particular type (informal) You lucky dog!
            Scurvy dog - (scurvy = despicable: behaving in ways thought to be mean or contemptible)
EXPRESSIONS
            Shiver me timbers! -- An expression of surprise or strong emotion
            Sink me! -- An expression of surprise.
            Blimey! -- An exclamation of surprise
            Well blow me down!
            Walk the plank!
            Deadlights -- Eyes. --> "Use yer deadlights, matey!"
            Dead men tell no tales -- Standard pirate excuse for leaving no survivors.
            Salty as a Krakens kiss.
            Treasure be the measure of our pleasure!
            I don’t fear death-I attune it.
            Arr--Pretty much anything. Filler for most conversations.
             Avast! -- "Hey!" Could be used as "Stop that!" or "Who goes there?"
